Surveying Greasley Castle

Sum awarded: £3,755

Greasley Castle was built in the 1340s by the de Cantelupe family. A working farm now stands on the site, incorporating some remains of the castle. The later buildings have made it difficult to discern the extent of the castle. Fieldwork offers an excellent opportunity to learn more about Greasley Castle.

James Wright and Triskele Heritage will survey the standing buildings for the first time. The aim is to identify the various building phases at the castle, filling in gaps in the site’s history.
